Recently Felicia and I haven't gotten to hang out because her family came into town and I was working a lot but that changed the day after Easter. She had a meeting and I didn't have school until 2, so I texted her asking if she wanted to hit up our favorite little restaurant. She of course said yes and we carpooled to the place, jamming to Fall Out Boy.
Maggie's is a little Italian restaurant we discovered over our Fall semester, and we have loved it ever since. It has all the makings of a tiny family place and I think that's what we love most about it (besides the food!). We made it a tradition that we would visit once a week and we did pretty well on that for the Fall and a little bit of the break but unfortunately with our schedules not quite lining up this semester and work overflowing with our lives, we had to stop that which was quite sad.
Luckily though, they still remember us! (Which if you ask Felicia is one of her dreams that we become regulars at a restaurant). But back to the most important stuff...
When we arrived, we immediately sat at our little table in the back corner. It never fails that this is basically our table. The waitress, the same one we always have, already knows our drink orders (Sweet tea for me and water for Felicia) so she us those rather quickly.
Plus she knows our appetizer! We get the same appetizer, mozzarella sticks, all the time just because they are the most awesomest I have ever had. The perfect quantity of fried bread and cheese. And we always split them. You get a total of six in an order so three a piece is perfect for us because we usually get full because of these, our salad(s) and our meal.
Felicia, who has been getting the same thing for the past couple of trips, knew right away what she wanted to order but I was having a bit of trouble. I knew I wanted something with pasta (duh), but I also wanted something substantial. And after asking our lovely waitress, I decided on a Chicken Parmesan but on fettuccine pasta instead of spaghetti, and Felicia got a sandwich called the Citizen Kane which had turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado, tomato and ranch dressing on a white hoagie. With each of our entrees, we got a choice. I chose salad with ranch and Felicia chose fries.
Thankfully, seeing as how we were only ones in there, we got our food rather quickly... But now that I am thinking about it, the wait time for food is rather small compared to other places so there is another plus. Anyway, the pasta and sandwich and we both couldn't wait to dig in; thankfully we held back long enough to get a few photos... Or well at least I did... Felicia immediately dug into it, pausing for me to get a photo quickly.
Besides the pastas and sandwiches, they do have burgers (which Felicia has gotten) and pizzas. I have tried almost all of the pastas on the pasta side so I can definitely account for those. (BTW: All delicious!). And when the check comes, they give you an Andes mint to go along with it, but Felicia (who is obsessed with these mint chocolate things) snatched it up before I could say 'Thank You'.
All in all, a perfect lunch restaurant. The food is delicious, the staff is amazing (they were so intrigued by my Polaroid camera), and the atmosphere is just so quaint. I am so excited to start going back!
