Today, before the rain started coming down, I was thankful to actually have time to meet up with an old friend. Shayla and I have been friends since 6th grade, and it is crazy to think that we will be juniors in college this fall. That's almost 10 years of being friends! Holy moly.
We were in Spanish, Cheerleading and Theater together in middle school while in high school, she was the one to convince me to rejoin soccer in freshman year, and in our junior year, we became the girls team managers. She helped me get ready for senior homecoming. My high school experience would not be the way it was if I didn't have her in my life.
We haven't been able to actually meet up until today for a very long time so it was nice to catch up with her because she is a great friend. We each ordered our drink upon arrival (me with a sweet tea and her with a java chip frappuccino), then proceeded to sit down and we both struggled on where to start. It was kind of funny because so much has happened in our lives the past couple of months but we couldn't figure out how to start.
But once we started, it was like all of it was coming out. I learned why she had kind of fallen off the Earth for a little and she found out that I was the first to get a tattoo and still don't have a boyfriend. It was nice to just sit and relax and gossip with a really good friend.
We made plans for me to help with her sister's quince, some fun photo shoots and for me to help design her business cards.
Overall, the time spent to ourselves this morning was definitely worth waking up early on my of day, and hopefully it won't be over 6 months until we see each other again.
