2015 was insane. There is no other word to describe it. So many events happened this year and to even try to think of the highlights would take much longer than I care to admit. But here are some of my most memorable ones.
The first two months brought new experiences with traveling to Medina, Tx to attend a college retreat for Still Water Sports Camps, taking my first ever road trip with my best friend (renting a hotel room and acting like little adults), attending W.O.W. as a Tribal Leader for the first time and gaining my first ever tattoo! I think January and February really was the perfect way to start the year because they taught me to try new things, whether it's new food recipes or new travel experiences.
March and April probably deserve their own post because they were crazy and jam-packed with everything from mid-terms to studying for finals, to my little sister turning 5 and me turning 20 (we each share the lucky number of 29 as our birthdays, hers in March and mine April). Having my best friend throw me a surprise party for my 20th with some of my good friends was exactly the kind of way to end a spring semester.
May was kind of a filler month for me because I was mainly working and finishing my finals, but June and July each hold special moments in my heart. June had staff training in beautiful Blanco, TX (which also incited another road trip but this was my first one by myself), the opening of Schlitterbahn in Corpus, and graduation for some good friends.
July had 4th of July, which was celebrated at work and at my step-grandparent's ranch as well as my first experience with any kind of summer camp with Still Water. I made amazing friends that month but also got closer to some good ones.
August through November found me moving into my own place, taking two different trips out of the city with my co-worker/stellar friend Marissa to New Braunfels and Galveston to visit and play at the parks there, dressing up for Halloween and spending it with Fe, celebrating Fe's 20th with a bonfire bash that killed it, and obtaining two new jobs as well.
These months kept me busy with school, work and friends but it also taught me time-management and how I need to be organized.
December found me buried in finals, work and Christmas decorating. This month was crazy in more ways than one but I am so thankful for a best friend who knows when I need a break, a roommate who cooks dinner when I am at work and makes sure that there is plenty for me and that it is warm, and a family who makes time for each other even when our schedules never align.
This month taught me that sometimes I need to take a step back and take a deep breathe but also that sometimes you just need to put on some music, get a cup of tea and dance around your living room while you wait for your cookies to bake.
2015 was the year I struggled immensely. It may not look like it in these photos but there were times I was confused and I didn't know what I was meant to do. I let my mind play tricks on me and evil tried to get an upper hand on me but thankfully God is great and knew who to send me when I needed someone to help fight my battles, even if I would never admit to it.
2015 was the year I tried many firsts. It was the year that I decided to throw caution to the wind (kind of) and do many things I was afraid of. It was the year that I decided I was to be me and no one could change that.
2015 was the year I saw my entire focus on life shift. In a good way.
2015 was the year that my best friends and I made plans to travel in 2016.
2015 was the year I caught too many colds and lived on throat drops and Tylenol.
But most importantly, 2015 was the year that I was taught to never stop working towards my goals because you never know when your next obstacle is the major turning point in your life.
2016; I am ready for you.
Happy new year lovelies,
"If it scares you, it might be a good thing..."
