I feel like it was just yesterday that I was typing out that title to my first Back to School post! But in reality it's been 8 months! That is insane to think how time has flown.
Once August 26th hits, I will resume waking up early, throwing on the most comfortable item in my closet and rushing to arrive in time to snag a decent parking spot at my University. Or if you're in high school, it will be the 24th for y'all.
For the last BTS post, I mentioned all the cute items I took part in spoiling myself with for the semester, and I kind of wanted to be a little different. Before this semester started, not only did I change places of housing, I changed my way of thinking about a lot of things.
Getting back into the swing of things involving school work, homework, clubs and sports can be a lot tougher than most people believe, so I decided to compile a list of sorts together, with the help of Pinterest and the rest of the Internet, of how you can hit the ground swinging for your first day back, whether it's high school or college.
1) Get a great night's sleep!
It is a proven fact that you minimum of 7 hours of sleep a night. Sleeping is the way your body energizes your body from whatever happened during the day so you can be ready for the next.
2) Drink a glass of water when you wake up!
I know, I know. But caffeine is so good in the morning! But lets face the facts, having a glass of water when you wake up actually does wonders for the body. By drinking a glass of chilled water in the morning, you absorb more nutrients, it increases your metabolism by 24% which means its easier for your body to lose weight, you get that glowing complexion plus it balances your lymph system.
3) A Planner Is Key!
You may moan and groan but I've had a planner since I started college and it has been a stellar accessory to my life because it comes everywhere with me. I have one to fit in my book bag and one that sits on my desk at home in my room. I have to be organized or my life is utter chaos. Seriously... Invest in one.
4) Great Friends <3
Yeah, yeah. This may sound cheesy, but having great friends is the perfect cure for anything and everything. My friends have kept me sane, picked me up when I have felt down, kept my attitude and anger in check and are my accountability partners. I wouldn't be where I am without them.
5) Snacks are an amazing thing.
Having an early start to the day is hard for everyone, especially college students with 8am classes. I take pride in munching on small snacks throughout the day to keep my energy up to a level that I can actively participate in class with, and to make sure I am not gorging myself at a meal when I sit down and eat.
Going back to school and getting back into the swing of things is going to be hard at any level because we have had the entire summer to laze around and do nothing, Hopefully following these tips and listening to your older cousins, siblings or even, yes, your parents will make it a school year you'll never forget.
Until next time lovelies,
"If it scares you, it might be a good thing..."
