Back in April, Bri, Kaci and I officially bought our three-day ACL wristbands, and now with just a mere 49 days until one of the best music festivals to attend, I am getting more and more pumped for it. But for people who have never heard of Austin City Limits or have been living under a rock, why should it appeal to them?
Well, there are three basic categories to ACL: music (duh), food and activities. Activities you say? Yes, activities. More on that later.
The first category I’m gonna talk on is music. As a music festival, this is a pretty big part of said festival. And for this festival to be held in Austin, music is pretty big deal in the city, so it’s no surprise that the festival heads got a fair number of well-known talents as well as local favorites.
This year, 2017, the line-up is one crazy one. With hits like Jay-Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers, there is plenty for everyone. The festival is comprised of 8 stages spread out over Zilker park, with over 140 bands. There is music coming from everywhere and it gives you an incredible experience, even if you only know one or two bands, you’ll be sure to find something you weren’t expecting to like.
The second category is my favorite part of the festival, food! Austin has always been my favorite place for food because there is so much to eat there. And at the festival, there are a TON of vendors from all across Austin, and even some from the surrounding area, with a set-up. Everything from regular food, like tacos, wraps or burgers, to drinks to sweets. I am a huge foodie, so this is literally my favorite spot to be. On top of all the different options they offer, they cater to vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free peeps.
And the last category is activities. Besides being in Austin, which is host to the state’s capital, a gorgeous surrounding Green Belt to hike, Barton Springs and plenty of other things that make Austin the place to be, ACL is host to a huge area that has everything you’ll need without actually leaving the park. If you happen to bring little ones to the festival (very common actually), there is a designated kids area called Austin Kiddie Limits (love the play on words guys!). With everything from baby changing stations to games for little ones, this is the perfect place for kids to chill out from all the craziness.
If you’re like the three of us however, and have no kid obligations, you’ll probably be more fascinated with the Art Market area which is basically a huge shopping place. There are vendors from all over that have created amazing masterpieces but also very popular brands who have shown up as well. On top of the Art Market, there are sections throughout the festival where you can find your perfect Instagramable photo op, free swag, giveaways and charging stations if you happen to forget your portable charger.
Austin City Limits is definitely a one of a kind music festival that I fully believe everyone should experience at least once. Every year, there is a new line-up that brings more and more people to the experience, and I cannot wait for this year.
Until next time lovelies,
