Hello my lovelies! I hope you all are having a fantastic day/week/month.
I just have finished my first full week back at college and I am already ready for another break... But anyway, now that school is back on I have to switch from lazy do nothing but write/watch YouTube videos Mikayla to student Mikayla who stuffs everything in her purse and has to fight for a decent parking spot.
Thankfully though, I get a small break the first weekend of February due to the fact that I'll be a tribal leader for Still Water Sports Camp. Whoop whoop! Praising Jesus with friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Getting a break is grand and all but do you know what I struggle a lot with?
What I actually NEED to take! It never fails, I will forever wait until the last minute to actually pack and then I'm rushing and I usually forget something (i.e. glasses, pillow, blanket,). So today's post is going to be about my travel needs and how you can snag some of the same cool stuff.
My number one travel need, that I can't go anywhere without, is my beloved Canon. My Canon Rebel T3 is my baby (tying first place with my laptop and my tablet). If I am allowed to bring it, you better believe that it will be in it's case besides me. I just recently got my camera bag from Mooshi on Etsy. I fell in love with this leather camera bag so much, I had to have it! So far, it has been a fantastic investment!
My next need for any kind of travel are my headphones because sometimes [the majority of the time] you just want to listen to music and sleep (Guilty. All the time). Mine are just some plain white ones you can find in any store. What I love about them though is the little button on the right ear-bud cord. The button lets you control the volume and if you want to play or pause a song without having to dig your iPod or phone out of your pocket.
There is always a journal in my carry-on so that's probably a pretty big necessity for me because I like being old-fashion, and actually write down my blog posts before I type them up just so I have my mind thoughts on paper than as I am typing, I usually add some words or take some away. It's also a place to stick stray thoughts and ideas for a new post down.
And since I am a young lady, and whenever I get to where I am going, want to look at least decent, even if I am dressed in travel clothes. One thing I have in my carry-on bag is a small make-up bag which holds my foundation and powder, lip gloss and eye liner so I am able to do a quick touch-up before I meet anyone. Thankfully though, recently with my new make-up (Thanks Younique!), I never really have to.
Although my carry-on is my lifeline while traveling, whether it be via car or plane, what I have in my suitcase or duffle-bag is just as important.
Besides my regular clothes (usually folded in half and rolled up to save space), I always, always, always have a pair of my comfy clothes. All my comfy clothes consist of is my favorite pair of Pokemon sweats and my favorite hoodie. There's nothing better than when you're feeling homesick or just aren't feeling well in general, than to curl up in your comfy clothes and either take a nap or read. Another thing I have to have are my fuzzy house shoes. Call me crazy but I absolutely love my house shoes. Especially if you're staying at a cold place and you need to keep your feet warm.
Since most of my traveling this year will be by car (Thanks Texas for having awesome cities!), and my stay will usually consist of friend's homes, and hotels (even a couple of cabins!), my go-to home away from home item is my blanket and pillow! With your own pillow and blanket to cuddle up underneath, it'll offer the comfort of home but just outside of your cucoon is your next adventure.
Now whether it be celebrating some time with family in Austin, spontaneous girlfriend trips to San Antonio, or kicking back in the Hill Country, I am packed and ready to have some much needed relaxing time.
