Bound for Beaumont

7/19/2017

This past weekend Bri and I packed our bags and headed up to Beaumont to visit Kaci. Kaci recently moved up to Beaumont for her “big girl” job at the beginning of June, so we thought a road trip to go see her would be the perfect mini-vacation. And even though all three of us are now covered in mosquito bites, it was still a pretty fantastic weekend.

SIDE NOTE: HOW IS THIS THE ONLY GROUP SHOT WE HAVE TOGETHER?!?
Friday had both Bri and I working so we didn’t actually leave Corpus until 4:30ish, which we knew wouldn’t put us in Beaumont until around 9 p.m. We also decided to stop at Buc-ee’s because she was craving Beaver nuggets. Plus no road trip in Texas would be complete without a stop at Buc-ee’s!

So after stopping at our favorite gas station, jamming to all sorts of music, playing a weird car game and snacking, we finally reached Beaumont around 9:30 p.m., and reunited with our best friend. Our Friday night was just getting started as we made plans to go to karaoke with Kaci’s co-workers so we had to quickly change, touch up our hair and head on out.  We headed to Port Arthur after picking up two of her co-workers, met up with several more at the bar/bowling alley (so stinkin’ cool!) and danced and sung the night away (Look for videos of that in July's monthly vlog).

Saturday was the day Bri and Kaci decided to go to Cross Fit (when invited, I said it was a firm no from me), so I took on the “mom” role and went to Wal-Mart to get snacks and lunch for when they got back. I decided to grab some pizzas for lunch since I figured they would be slightly hungry after working out so after grabbing some veggies and fruit for our hike, one buffalo chicken pizza for Kaci and I and a spinach and mushroom pizza for Bri (our little vegetarian).

Once the two of them got back to Kaci’s apartment, we relaxed a little and then got ready to go to Big Thicket National Preserve, despite the fact that it was raining. Fun fact: The park is only 40 minutes away from where Kaci lives but because apparently she put the wrong address in her GPS, it took us an hour and half to actually get to the visitor’s center and get recommendations on what trail to hike.

Even with the massive amount of rain we encountered, and the gazillion mosquitos, we still had fun and got some really cute photos, which you can see below.
The rest of the day consisted us ordering Chinese food, and watching Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Sunday was the day we decided to eat brunch at a fantastic restaurant recommended by one of Kaci’s co-workers. (You can check out that restaurant review HERE)

Now that I am back home, fully rested from a much-needed weekend, I am anxiously awaiting our next trip up to see her. (We are already planning a trip to NOLA so when we go at the end of October I am not fully overwhelmed with anything and get anxiety)

     Until next time lovelies,
