![]() Okay for everyone who knows me, knows that I love to travel! And I can't stand being stuck in this city. Unfortunately, my funds, or lack thereof, don't permit me to do all the traveling I would love to... So for right now, I make excessive plans with friends and family to where we want to go and where we will go once we have those funds. Take my cousin and I for example. Over Christmas, we found out that when our ancestors came to American from Germany in 1858, they didn't land in Galveston like we thought! They actually landed in New Orleans, Louisiana! That information just made me want to visit NOLA even more! Can you imagine your ancestors landing in New Orleans BEFORE they settled in Texas?! Of course, seeing as how Katrina hit there in '05, there is a high possibility that their archives dating that far back were ruined but it's still an opportunity that we are dying to take! For now though, we're stuck with the archives in Austin, Tx and they hold some good information but my heart longs for the day when I can travel to NOLA... My favorite travels by far though, happened a little more West of here, and it was definitely a life-changing experience. In June of 2013, I graduated and in August, I took my graduation trip to Fallon, Nevada to meet up with my sisters for the first time! You can just imagine how emotional it was for the three of us and I am pretty sure we got some weird stares from other people at the airport, but we didn't care. Spending the first four days in Fallon with their family was a complete blessing. I got to see their hometown, even visited an old mining town, and made homemade pizza for their mom's birthday. While all that was tons of fun, and definitely what I needed before I started college in September, nothing beat that week following. On that Monday, with our car packed, and dressed in comfy clothes, we began our drive to Anaheim, California! Now meeting my sisters, and spending some well needed time with them is great and all, but this was CALIFORNIA! My home away from home; the place were my heart longed for; the one place that I had been wanting to visit for so long! After 8 hours, two stops, and countless music choices later, we were in Cali. I was so excited that I skipped, SKIPPED, from the parking lot with my suitcase to the front lobby to the elevator. And since we arrived in the late afternoon, early evening, we ate dinner at the hotel than I was astounded by our beautiful view of California Adventure Land just right across the street! Once we were through with the little unpacking we had, The World Of Color was going on outside, so we turned up the TV after finding the correct channel and listened to the music and watched through our window. Even though we were only in the parks for 3 days, and Cali for a week, it was one of my favorite trips up to date because it was with my best friends/family. And Kelsey and I are already making plans to head to Disney World for New Years Eve in 2016!! XOXO

![]() Welcome y'all to Sweet Tea & Storms! I really wish I could say that this has been in the works for sometime, that a lot of planning and thinking went into it... But in reality, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing. Something that you're thinking of right as you fall asleep and your brain is like "That's a wonderful idea! You can do it!" and it won't let you sleep until you put the basics down on paper. I am so excited to actually start it though! I have been thinking of one for sometime, but it's always been in the back of my mind. Once I got started on my photography website and blog, I got all these great ideas that wouldn't quite fit into that one so I decided "What the heck!?" Ideas for posts that involve fashion, food, traveling, and other fun stuff. I wanted a place where I could pass out style tips, my favorite fashion steals, food recipes and restaurants that are huge on my list, and all other sorts of neat stuff. And that's how 'Sweet Tea & Storms' became a reality. Now for the name: 'Sweet Tea & Storms', or as my sister likes to dub it, 'STAS'. I definitely have to give some credit to not only my sister, Kelsey, who was my bounce board on several name ideas, but also my mom. Seeing as how this blog was going to reflect me as a sort, I wanted a name that was ME. But also spoke for where I came from. Seeing as how we are from South Texas (my mom and I; my sister resides in the lovely state of Nevada), sweet tea is a staple in my life. Seriously, I cannot go a day without sweet tea. And I am so picky about how sweet it is. It is a well known fact that if my friends or family go out to eat with me, sweet tea is what my drink order is. The storms part comes in because they are my favorite nature occurrence. I am not happy unless there are darkening clouds in the sky, which brings on the joke in the family that I must have been born on a stormy day in April. Not all storms are bad. Besides it was a storm that caused Noah to build the Ark, and the Earth to flood so we could begin again. So as I was sitting in my bedroom, in my sky blue polka dot robe with Pokemon sweatpants and a Forever 21 workout shirt, 'Sweet Tea & Storms' was born! |
