What to do for Valentine's

February 14th is this Sunday. But this is not just an ordinary day, it it known worldwide as Valentine's Day, the day of love. Or for some (i.e. me), it is single awareness day. I have come to terms with not celebrating this day for some time, and while it does sometimes suck because what girl does not want the whole cheesy flowers and chocolate, I have no hatred for this day like others.
Usually, I would try to make plans with Felicia (not gonna happen this year because she has a Valentines of her own) or spend time with my mom, but this year I am actually gonna be surrounded by little kids and great friends. So to make up for it, I decided to give some ideas for all the girls (and guys) out there if y'all are stuck on what to do on V-Day.
  1. Have a GNO(Or as it is being commonly called nowadays Galentine's Day)-Since Valentine's Day is on Sunday this year, gather your closest gal pals, dress to the nines and go out and just have fun the night before. Go out and have a drink (if you're over 21!) or go to dinner, or even do a really cliche night and do dinner AND a movie. (Chris Pine is looking positively handsome/delicioud in his new movie, The Finest Hours)
  2. Boycott the holiday-Okay, don't actually boycott it but don't celebrate it on Sunday. Take the day to just relax, then later on in the week, do something special for your significant other. You shouldn't just celebrate your love for each other on one day.
  3. Movie Day/Night-Who needs fancy clothes, expensive food and crazy gifts when you can have a comfortable (and in my opinion, ten times more fun) day and night in. Plan to sleep in a little, have breakfast in bed and lounge around in sweats and a tank top with the one (or ones) you love. Pop in a couple of Disney movies or action flicks, and build a fort out of pillows and blankets.
  4. Volunteer-Go to a senior center or an orphanage and spend your day spreading love to people that might not get it from others. Making someones day (especially little ones) beats roses and chocolate any day.
  5. Therapy-No, not the whole sit in a reclining couch and talk to a person about your life. Retail therapy. Go out by yourself and by yourself something that you've been wanting. Or go get a massage or pedicure. Just treat yourself if you're not being treated by someone else.
Valentine's Day is not just expensive chocolate or roses or getting all dolled up only for it to be wiped away at the end of the night. It is about spending cherished time with one another or in my case, spending time ministering to little ones. But don't let it just be a one day thing.
    Until next time lovelies,

I love your ideas! I think that I'm going to go to the animal shelter and meet all the adorable animals, who need people right?
