Today is February 27th, 2015.
But to some people, it's also known as 'Shine A Light On Slavery' day. It's the day where people around the world draw a red X on their hand in show of their support for this day. And I am not one to sit down and not do anything about it. So today I am joining in the movement. The fight to help end slavery in every part of the world.
Did you know that today, right now, there are 27 million, that's right-MILLION, men, women, and children that are victims of forced labor, sex trafficking and exploitation of basic human rights? And that number is still counting.
Participating in the #enditmovement shouldn't just be a one day thing though. We shouldn't stand as one nation just one day out of the year because we are the land of the free and there shouldn't be anyone still in slavery. I've been inspired recently by Nathaniel Buzolic (you may know him as Kol from The Vampire Diaries or The Originals) because of how much he has been doing for this cause...
Imagine if this was one of your family members... Would you sit down and be idle while they were being forced to do things they did not want to do?
It's not just about drawing a red 'X' on your hand though. It is a good way to get people to know about it and it is an awesome way for it to be brought up in a conversation. It's about doing something to change the world. Take it one step further though. Donate. It can be as small as you can give or as much. But don't just be a big talker.
Practice what you preach right?
And have no fear. The money you donate actually goes to the organization. Everything from awareness to prevention, to rescuing and restoration.
Don't just draw an 'X' on your hand today. Draw it everyday. Take everyday to work towards a new a brighter future for everyone. We shouldn't be the only country that is called the home of the free.
So now I challenge all of you my lovely readers... Go out and make the difference that should of been made yesterday, today.
Until next time my lovelies
