New Year, New Food

1/5/2015

With 2015 opening up just right, a bunch of people will attempt to make new year resolutions and then not keep them. Not me and my best friend, Felicia. We decided to start the #28JumpstartChallenge given by Fit Girl's Guide! (Check them out on their  Instagram).

Not only does the book/guide come with all the recipes you need, it comes with the grocery list, the work-out schedule and all that fun stuff! [It even comes with vegan, vegetarian & gluten-free friendly substitutes!] Plus the food that we are going to be making, looks absolutely delicious!
Now we have officially started it, we prepped some of our first week dishes, mainly our breakfasts for the first 3 days, and our lunches, and some of our dinners. And they look absolutely delicious! When we first finished prepping our breakfasts, we immediately wanted to eat them! They looked killer.
So my first food post will be about the healthy and awesome breakfast we made!

    The ingredients:
  •     1/3 C Oats (Preferably Old Fashioned)
  •     1/3 C Almond Milk (Or any unsweetened milk)
  •     1/2 C 2% Plain Yogurt (Use the plain kind so you can add some honey to it) [I used Greek]
  •     1 teaspoon Chia seeds
  •     1/2 Tablespoon almond butter (optional and can use any other nut butter)
  •     1 teaspoon honey
  •     1/2 C frozen cherries (My advice: Don't buy the Tart Cherries, it'll give a tart taste to your breakfast)

To make these Cherry Pie Fridge Oats, it is the most simplest breakfast item to make. First you pour the oats in your jar or bowl (we used mini mason jars because they were just too cute not to), then we poured the milk into the oats.

After the milk, comes the chia seeds, and you'll just sprinkle them on top of the milk and oats. Then my favorite thing to sweeten it up... HONEY! It is one of my favorite things to eat stuff with, whether it be a piece of bread, or fruit.

Following the honey, comes the almond butter, yogurt and your frozen cherries. And you just pile them on top of the mix you already have. If they don't pile exactly on top of one another, it's fine because in the end, you'll stir it all together to mix everything.

Now that everything is in your jar or bowl, take a butter knife, and stir, stir, stir! Once everything is stirred together, then pop it in the fridge and now you'll have a quick, healthy breakfast to munch on the next morning. Say hello to an extra 30 minutes of sleep/make-up prep!
