Prepping my face for ACL

9/29/2017

All throughout my middle school years and in some of my high school years, I was extremely blessed to have relatively clear skin. I seriously took advantage of it now that I think about it. Part of the reason was because I didn’t wear a lot of make-up during that time. In fact, the only times I wore any sort of make-up was for extravagant reasons (i.e. high school dances, quinces, sweet sixteen’s, etc.)

However recently, it seems like I’m getting the tail end of bad breakout after another. Even when I don’t wear make-up and rinse my face off morning and night. At first, I was very thrown off by it because the products I used to use didn’t work for me anymore, and anything I thought would help, didn’t.

Now I’ve realized that part of the reason I ended up having such bad breakouts on my face was because I was stressed with school and my jobs. Add on anxiety to top it off, and my face was a warzone. Life has calmed down a bit but I still suffer from my occasional splatter of red spots on my face.

And with ACL coming up, I know my face is going to have a hard time that weekend. (Truth be told, my poor face will probably have a hard time throughout October). So knowing my face and how my skin reacts to oils, stress, dirt and anything else, I have been prepping my face and decided to share with y’all how I am doing it.

  • Water! Water is key to everything. Your body is 60% water as is. Besides the fact that water is just plain healthy for you in general, for me, it helps my skin as well. I can always tell when I haven’t been drinking enough water because first off: I feel sluggish and bleh, and second off: I tend to have little spots on my face around my jaw structure. Water helps moisturize your skin but also helps push toxins out of your skin, leaving it cleaner.
  • Olay oil minimizing clean: I stumbled upon this while looking for make-up wipes and have loved it ever sense. I use it whenever I wear make-up to take it off, but also every morning when I wake up and night right before I go to bed to help get rid of the dirt and oil that has built up over the day or night. And it never fails to surprise me by how much does build up, even when I go make-up less.
  • Formula 10.0.6 Three Times Sublime: I actually bought this over Christmas break last year at Ulta and have always come back to it as a favorite. When I am having a really bad breakout, I will use this over everything else since it acts as a three in one product.
  • Lush’s Herbalism: When I don’t have time for a solid mask, this face mask from Lush is super quick for me to use before I hop in the shower or run off for the day. I’ve been obsessed with Lush for awhile but always have to time my visits to San Antonio to when I run out of Lush items since we do not have one in Corpus. This particular face mask is designed for oil and troubled skin so it works perfectly. It also has the added bonus of being a body cleanser as well!

  • EOS lip balm: My lips being burned or chapped have thankfully never been a problem but with the amount of time we will be spending in the sun, I do not want to take the chance. I love EOS lip balm as much as I love soft cube lip balm. Unfortunately I have run out of the soft cube but have an endless supply of EOS due to me being gifted six of them for my 21st birthday. I like keeping my lips ready for anything, whether it is singing at the top of my lungs with friends or chugging back a couple of shots. (lol. Jk. I could never down a couple of shots. Maybe one or two…In the span of like 4 hours)
  • 7th Heaven Black Seaweed Peel-off: I’ve used 7th Heaven a lot growing up because they were relatively cheap but also somehow managed to always do the job. On top of using face scrubs and masks, I do love these peel off masks. I try to use these once a month or every couple of months because they do moisturize my skin quite a bit so I don’t want to do it too many times. I’ll use this the week before ACL.
  • Hill Country Essentials Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control: This right here is also my go-to every night face wash. It is the one product I will always use with my Olay oil minimizing clean after taking my make-up off. It refreshes my skin but also fights breakouts.

I don’t’ use all of these at once before I get comments saying I’m making my skin worse. These are some of the products I am using to help my face though! No matter how crazy and much my skin will hate me after ACL, I am super excited for the festival because I will get to hang with my best friends for an entire weekend in one of our favorite cities.

What about y’all? What are some of your must-haves when battling acne or prepping your face for a long weekend? Leave some suggestions down in the comments or let me know what y’all think of the products I use!

     Until next time lovelies,
